Awesome music! And as far as the Oxnard violence goes, I find disqusting that kid was shot and killed all because people are still homophobic, and I personally have to blame the News media for not giving it enough coverage. I also find it horrifing that his poor kid had to be harassed and fucked with and that it had to end this way. I personally moved alot in my teenage years (still in my late teens) but I’m currently on my 14th school across 5 states, ever since I was in middle school (in KENTUCKY) I have been harassed, not only about being punk but also about being openly gay. I’m by no means “feminine”, I act and look pretty damn “straight”. It’s ashame that people are still ignorant and act like it’s the 1950’s and 60’s were bigotry is accepted.

I also agree with you when you say that some queercore bands or any queer musician in any scene should be more vocal. I think that if people should be a little more vocal and they should show people that there is alot of GLBT people in their scene.

And lastly, The Skinjobs kick ass! I love the Skinjobs! Too bad they never played in Indianapolis! :) Good job on your first podcast. You played great music! Keep up the good work.

Thanks for your podcasts (both of them so far)! Great music and you have a pleasant voice.

I wanted to respond to your comment about needing gay role models.
In my country, Holland, homosexuality is a lot more out there in the media and such, and we have the annual Gay Parade (http://www.canalparade.nl/).
Despite that, most gays I see on TV are not the sort of gays I’d identify with. I’ve long been looking for that gay role model that I could identify with and look up to as an example, but ultimately found that there were no such people anywhere in mass media and such.
Generally, the image of gays that pervades media is (imho) a charicature of overly effeminate and promiscuous drama queens.

Now, I don’t mean to slam on these guys as they’re just doing what they feel is right. But I wonder whether it really helps gay people to get accepted, let alone be taken seriously. Obviously, there’s a much more diverse pallette of gays in the world.

I’m curious how other gay people feel about that: is exposure of gays to the mass consciousness a good thing in itself, or is it more important to have balanced and respectable portrayal of gays?
