So long friends, It’s been great

Hi All,

It’s with a heavy heart that I must say goodbye to QueerPunks.com and move on to other ventures. I started this site in late 2001 as a way to meet punk rock homos and talk about the things we all had in common. I was able to learn so much from all the visitors, contributors, and message board posters. I truly feel that this site, because of you, has made me a better person. I thank you for that.

A lot of you know that I’ve worked in the music industry for close to 14 years and lately things have been increasingly busy for me. I haven’t been able to devote any quality time to this site, or contribute much content. It seems that now is the right time to hand over the site to the person who has been running the majority of the operations here for the past 18 months, and still has a strong connection to the community to which we belong. If you haven’t figured that out already - that would be Jeremy AKA Jaffa.

There are a few people that have helped us out along the way that I would like to thank. Mike Shea and the editorial staff at Alternative Press Magazine. Jason Tate and the news posters at AbsolutePunk.net, Larry-Bob, Anthony AKA Anonymous Boy, Aubin and the staff over at PunkNews.org, Andy at Towleroad, Todd and Matty at DList, and last but not least Jeremy here at the QP. All of you have supported us, and the site and I am forever grateful for that. You all hold a special place in my heart.

I will still be around posting comments and/or maybe the occasional entry once in a great while. If any of you need to reach me my e-mail address will always be active.

Soo…without much further ado - Take it away Jeremy!

XOXOXO

Adam LaRue

LA Queer Music Fest

Allison from the LA Gay and Lesbian Center sent me a nice e-mail informing me of a cool Queer Music Fest happening here in SoCal. The headliners are QueerPunks.com faves Girl In A Coma, who happen to be on Joan Jett’s Blackheart Records.

Henry Rollins discusses gay marriage and Larry Craig

Henry Rollins

The gay community’s favorite meathead punk has spoken out about gay marriage and leigislator creep Larry Craig.

How ironic is it that Sen. Larry Craig was nailed for coming on to an undercover cop after he ran under the family values flag?

It’s really ironic but if someone is gay, he should be able to express himself and not eat hand grenades every day. He [Craig] is an older guy. Coming out was not an option for him. He had to be so suppressed and so he married a woman and procreated. It’s too bad that’s the life he had to live, and it’s especially weird if he voted for anti-gay legislation. If you put your hand under the men’s room stall, that’s not going to go quietly in the night. The hypocrisy is obvious in his case. I’m being easy on the guy and I shouldn’t because he’s an asshole.

Chris Crocker - Does anybody like this guy?

As many of you know this guy is one of the more famous gay celebritards on the internet. Can anyone explain to me why someone is so fucking upset over a two dollar whore like Brittney Spears? I don’t think I got this upset from Joey Ramone, Joe Strummer, and my cat dying combined.

Chris Crocker - stop perpetuating the stereotype!

The Bombs: 1/2 a Gay Band

Hi All,

I just received an e-mail from a fellow named Michael that I thought you might want to read.

Hey Adam!
Wanted to throw something your way. I know you guys do stories about gay rock bands and the like, I’m friends with Devin Tait(Shitting Glitter) and Jasten King(Nancy Fullforce) and wanted to tell you guys about my newest band, The Bombs. I’m a solo act that just kinda got restless being a solo act, so i tried to form a girl band, well excluding myself, but you know what I mean. Anyway, the girl band I idea whittled down to just me and drummer Rhianon Jones. We’re now a garage rock two piece calling ourselves The Bombs. We’re getting ready to record our first record in 2 weeks, and have been playing out regularly. This is a link to our myspace page,

Please do check it out!
We would love to have a shout on QueerPunks!

So There you have it folks! The music isn’t really my taste but I’m all for homos starting rock bands.

NEW FEATURE: QueerPunks.com September Mix Tape!

Hi All,

So it’s the end of summer and I thought I would add a new feature to the website. Starting this month I will be making a “mix tape” of things I’ve been listening to lately. Future podcasts will have interviews, and exclusive songs.

Be advised that all of this isn’t “punk” per se but artists that I enjoy and/or are supportive of the gay community. The stream and The tracklisting is after the jump. You can also subscribe to the podcast by this RSS Feed.
