Show Review: Pass The Torch tour, Olympia show

Okay, this is LONG overdue– about two weeks overdue at least– so sorry about that to the cool cats and bands over at Queer Control Records. So here it is, the short of it is that the show was out-fucking-standing. Rather than talk about it– and my three hour/four bus trip to get to the show (or the getting stranded in Olympia at 2 in the morning)– I’ll just show you some pictures! I took a shitload of shots, but sadly I chose the wrong film and only managed to save a few. Here’s the best!

Online Queercore groups

If you’re like me, you’re looking to connect with other queers who like the same music you’re into for one reason or another. Whatever that reason may be, here’s a (surprisingly long) list of places you can get your talk on. Some of them are low-flow, but there’s still a strong showing of homos into rock out there. If I missed any, just comment and let me know so I can add it up.

SKULL & BONES–Nasty gay fetish slasher film

Hey Guys,

I write to talk about my new gay-themed, campy slasher “Skull &
Bones” (USA, 2007, 73 minutes). The tagline “A Tale of Homo-cidal
Mania” sums up my original and darkly humorous take on a traditional
genre: http://www.skullandbonesthemovie.com

Allow me to highlight other key features of the film:

Punk, Dance, Drag?

The Divys have released their home-made video for the club mix of their single, Freddie, Are You Single?. The song won ‘Best Electronic Song’ by The John Lennon Songwriting Contest in September 2006: www.jlsc.com/winners/2006a/winners.php

Sure, this version is not punk music, per se, but it does have a punk rock approach as the band totally wrote, acted and filmed and edited the video themselves.

It might remind you of the classic Cindy Lauper video, ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’, with the drag-queens thrown into it. It’s a hilarious video! ENJOY!

The Divys are also featured on the video game, ‘Dance Dance Revolution: Universe 2′ for XBox as of December 2007 and will be in arcades worldwide. http://xbox360.gamezone.com/news/10_25_07_08_04AM.htm

The song, ‘Get Up! Give Up! Move On!’, was the band’s attempt at writing a DEVO song. And they feel very happy with the outcome.

You can hear it at: www.punkrockers.com/TheDivys

Limp Wrist live at The Smell video

I cannot believe I’ve never posted this video before. It came out on their CD discography, and it spread to the internets. Their live shows (well, the one I caught) are insane and .. yeah, just watch this.

Pariah Piranha - R ‘n’ Arg

Make sure to pick up their album Feel My Face Noise! I know I’m going to.

Bear Force What?

Some call it ”brilliant”, others call it a ”Donna Summer rip-off”.

And you, what do you think? Do you see it as a proof that ”flaming” homos (for lack of a better word) can be a living part of pop culture, or as another Chris Crocker-like joke that will seclude even more gay people by forming exclusively ”gay” and ‘’straight” bands, each having their own audience?

And please for God’s sake, stay civilized in your comments.

Rare footage of the best queerpunk band EVER

This is a rare (not so much anymore) video from the archives of a practice of Chicago’s best and most short lived queerpunk band Festimi Emimi. A rad version of their #1 top of the charts hit “gender is sexit”.. Enjoy!
